Description

Synoxyl® HSS is a biodegradable SPF booster and photostabilizer, ideal for formulating broad-spectrum sunscreens free from octocrylene and oxybenzone. Inspired by the molecular structure of ginger, Synoxyl® HSS is designed to enhance SPF performance, protect light-sensitive ingredients from photodegradation, and safeguard the skin by inhibiting upstream reactive oxygen species (ROS) cascades.

This unique compound delivers in-vivo SPF boosting of ≥50% in both organic and inorganic sunscreen formulations—without contributing to SPF on its own—making it a cost-effective, eco-friendly solution for next-generation sun care products. Its photostabilizing effect stems from triplet-state energy transfer from avobenzone and light-triggered reactions that preserve key chromophores, ensuring long-lasting UV protection and formulation integrity.

Key Benefits:

  • Biodegradable and environmentally conscious
  • Simplifies the preparation of eco-friendly sunscreens
  • Significantly boosts SPF in vivo
  • Stabilizes UV filters like avobenzone
  • Ideal for octocrylene- and oxybenzone-free formulations
Sytheon limited was purchased in November 2024 and their line of products including this one is now available within the Hallstar Beauty portfolio.
