AEROSIL® 200 is a hydrophilic fumed silica with a specific surface area of 200 m2/g. AEROSIL® fumed silica effectively prevents moistening and caking of the peroxo and persulfate salts usually used in bleaching powders. This results in improved free-flow properties even after extended storage. This fumed silica can also be used as a thickening and stabilizing agents in bleaching creams.

In hair dyes, AEROSIL® fumed silica prevents a premature reaction and caking of powdered colorant components. It is particularly effective as a drying agent in a concentration of up to 4.0 percent w/w.

In hair conditioners, hydrophilic AEROSIL® types such as AEROSIL® 200 and AEROSIL® 300, can help increase the volume of the hair, counteracting the “flattening” effect of the conditioning agents.

LACTIL® is a blend of humectants in an aqueous solution adapting “Natural Moisturizing Factor”(NMF) of human skin. LACTIL® is especially suitable for use in hydroregulative cosmetics such as moisturizing creams and lotions, anti-aging products, shower gels, and bubble baths.

Besides lipids the skin needs an optimal proportion of water to retain its softness and suppleness. The ability of the horny layer of the skin to absorb moisture depends on the moisturizing factors contained in the epidermis – the so-called “Natural Moisturizing Factors“ (NMF). The NMF is easily washed out by using soaps or other surfactants. This results in the premature desquamation of the epithelial cells and loss of suppleness.

Hydroregulative cosmetics can help to counteract this effect by substituting the natural substances that have been washed out. In the form of emulsions, these cosmetics are excellent preparations providing the skin with lipids and moisture.

The skin’s inherent NMF consists mainly of lactate and pyroglutaminate components. In LACTIL®, Sodium Lactate and Sodium PCA (2-pyrrolidone-5- carbonic acid) are the major functional components. In addition, LACTIL® contains glycine, urea, and niacinamide that further enhance moisturization.

1. Prepare phase D wetting the pigments with the binder;
2. Heat phase B up to 80°C-85°C and disperse the thickener of the phase B using a suitable dispersion

  2. Heat phase A to approx. 85ºC.

  5. Homogenize for a short time.
  6. Cool with gentle stirring below 30ºC and add phase D.

This BB cream formulation was designed to provide superior broad spectrum (SPF/PFA <3), label SPF 40 performance. SolaStay® S1 provides very rapid and efficient excited state quenching of Avobenzone and also mitigates the photocatalytic and reactive oxygen species generating activities of the oxides to improve sunscreen performance. HallBrite® BHB, Sensolene® and HallTress®DIBA Special contribute to UV filter solubility and enhance product feel. Eurol® BT contributes its antiaging, skin elasticizing, anti-oxidant and moisturizing properties. This formulation was subjected to in vitro analysis and delivered SPF ~45 , PFA (PPD) ~21 performance with critical wavelength 382 nm.

Procedure:

1. In secondary vessel combine phase A, start mixing, add phase B to phase A and, when uniform, add phase C to phase AB.
2. Heat this oil phase ABC to 80°C and then add phase D to it.
3. When phase ABCD is homogeneous, add phase E to it and mix until phase E is fully dissolved.
4. To the main vessel add Water and Glycerin of phase F, start mixing, add the Disodium EDTA and then add Xanthan Gum.
5. Heat phase F to 75°C with continued mixing and ensure it is homogeneous.
6. When both phases are at designated temperatures, slowly add phase ABCDE to phase F with prop mixing and then homogenize for 3 minutes.
7. Start cooling batch with center stir (prop) mixing and when < 50°C, add phase G items one by one to it with continued mixing.
8. Replace any water lost to evaporation and mix batch until smooth.

4. When both phases are homogeneous at their designated temperature, very slowly add phase ABCD to phase E.
5. Homogenize phase ABCDE for 3 minutes and then switch to center-stir mixing.
6. Start to cool to room temperature and when the batch is below 50°C add phase F, mixing to uniformity.

While gently mixing pigmented dry water at low to medium speed (paddle mixer or by hand) slowly add carrier mixture with emollients to pigmented dry water in small doses.

How to Use Turn powder into cream by rubbing powder with fingertips or cosmetic sponge/brush. Apply cream to face and blend quickly. Color will come out a bit orange or dark at first, but once dried it will tone down to appear much softer. Blend with a blush after blush has dried to achieve an even finish. Silica helps to reduce shine and excess sebum to prolong wear time and prevent acne.
