Because of its high melting point and pleasant odor, ucuuba butter is widely used in the composition of candles. It can also be used indicated in the manufacture of care products to male skin, hair and cosmetics due to its dry and pleasant touch.

The Virola surinamensis species belonging to Myristicaceae family, is a plant native to the Amazon region, popularly known as Ucuuba, its habitat is the Lowland and Igapós.

The ucuuba tree is medium in size and can measure up to 40 m tall, the fruit gathering is carried out from January to March, the seed can be pressed for oil extraction.

In Brazil, ucuuba is mainly found in the Amazon basin reaching the whole state of Amazonas, Pará, part of Maranhão, Ceará and Goiás, which prevails in flooded areas on the banks of rivers, creeks, holes and paranás, and areas that can be affected by the floods.

BIOCHEMICA® SHEA BUTTER NATURAL is a natural butter expeller pressed from the fruit seeds of the karite tree grown on the African continent. From these seeds a yellow butter is obtained which must be further processed and refined for use on the skin, creating a smooth, creamy texture which is suitable for cosmetics. Due to its high content of unsaponifiables (up to 17%), unrefined shea butter has an inherent SPF of 4.  This is where shea butter draws its traditional properties: protection of the skin against weather, sun and photo-aging and elimination of superficial irritations. Shea butter is well known to address cutaneous dryness, dermatitis, dermatoses, eczema, solar erythema and burns. Biochemica® Soy Butter Refined is a soft, butter-like material which exhibits excellent spreadability on the skin, making it ideal as a massage butter or carrier for treatment products. As the skin ages, the intercellular bond between the skin cells becomes depleted, making it dry and porous. This causes the skin to become a less effective barrier against moisture loss, and free radicals which can damage otherwise healthy skin. Therefore, the skin needs an infusion of lipids (oil-like substances) to hydrate and protect skin cells. Biochemica® Soy Butter Ref replenishes the lipid bar­rier to help hold in the skin’s intrinsic moisture while softening dry, chaffed and damaged skin.

This product is also useful in hair conditioning products to add moisture, shine and conditioning attribute to hair without using petroleum-based additives.

It adds moisturizing attributes to creams, lotions and bar soaps. May be used in cosmetics, toilet­ries, bar soaps, massage treatments, hair care and sun care applications.
